The pop singer Pink met Prince while backstage at an award show in the ‘90s while she was still an up-and-coming act. She asked him to collaborate and he asked her if she owned her masters, which is something that many musicians sign away the right to own to their record label. Because she replied no, he told her to come back when she did own them. Even though she later realized that this was a sage piece of advice from the legendary musician, in the moment she thought he was simply being rude to her.
