Natalie Maines is the lead vocalist for the all-female country band The Chicks, which was formerly known as the Dixie Chicks. Maines was originally recruited by the Dixie Chicks to replace lead singer Laura Lynch. But she was blacklisted from appearing on television after she spoke out against President Bush’s invasion of Iraq. Despite the controversy, the band itself did not suffer from this.
