Henry Ian Cusick played a character on “Lost” who was different from the other characters who were stranded on an island because of a plane crash. His character, Desmond Hume, was stranded on the island because of a shipwreck three years prior and this role won Cusick an Emmy nomination in 2006. The character’s name was a tribute to the philosopher David Hume.
