Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia in “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi”
Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia slave girl costume, composed of metal that contoured to her body, became both controversial and iconic.
The costume designer, Aggie Guerard Rodgers, drew inspiration from the artwork of Frank Frazetta, which often celebrated the female figure. Despite its enduring fame, Fisher herself wasn’t particularly fond of the revealing metal bikini.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she humorously referred to it as the “iron bikini” and jokingly remarked that it would eventually be worn by supermodels in the seventh ring of hell.
