Lord Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes in the “Harry Potter” film franchise, had a particularly troubling upbringing, which helped to sway him towards the dark side. But audiences weren’t feeling particularly sympathetic towards the character given all the horrible suffering and deaths he was responsible for.
