Gollum, played by Andy Serkis in “The Lord of the Rings” films, was obsessed with getting the ring back. And despite appearing to show signs of kindness, the ring had corrupted his soul. So, he did everything in his power to drive a wedge between Frodo and Samwise so he could claim the ring for himself.
