The Studio Wanted a Show Set in the 1920s
When Paramount Studio executives initially approached Garry Marshall about developing a sitcom, they asked for it to be set in either the ‘20s or ‘30s. Because Marshall grew up during the ‘50s, he instead pitched a show that was nostalgic to his own childhood and luckily the studio absolutely loved it.
