If we’re going with comic theories, Lenny could actually be one of the first of Legion (the absorbed personalities that control David’s powers). Like Jemail Karami (the first comic personality), Lenny attempts to negotiate her freedom into a new body. Turns out the prospect of life outside of Legion isn’t very good for either of them.
