Aaliyah Died 20 Years Ago
Aaliyah was an American singer, dancer and model who helped redefine contemporary R&B, pop, and hip hop. This earned her the nicknames “Queen of Urban Pop” and “Princess of R&B.” But she was also an actress. In fact, she appeared in the horror film “Queen of the Damned” in 2002, where she played the vampire queen Akasha. Sadly, the singer died in a plane crash on August 25, 2001, shortly after the plane took off from the Bahamas.
