Ma Vie En Rose’s (1997) storyline draws from co-writer Vander Stappen’s own experiences of navigating life as a woman who lived as a man due to a deep sense of being “born in the wrong body.” The film leaned into these childhood experiences to infuse Ma Vie En Rose with authenticity.
