Oasis vs. Blur
Feeling a bit of envy against others is quite normal, especially when you belong to two of the most popular Britpop groups in the world. British band Blur might have taken it the wrong way when Oasis celebrated their first Number One single in the U.K., “Some Might Say” in the spring of 1995. This became the start of a constant battle to win the number one spot on the charts. Dubbed as the “Battle of Britpop,” their rift became a cultural event and gave the two bands their own identities – Blur being elitist, middle-class Londoners, and Oasis being rough-necked working class northern Englanders. In 2011, the dust settled, and they looked back at 15 years of rivalry over a tall glass of beer.
