The battle of Prince and the King remains, to this day, as one of the most unforgettable feuds in music history. Considered by many to be music royalty, Michael Jackson quickly dethroned Prince’s 1999 with his Thriller and was hailed as the “King of Pop.” Even so, princes aren’t known to bow down to kings in fairy tales, more so in real life. Prince retaliated and released his iconic Purple Rain. But Jackson was on the sidelines, paying attention. He even reportedly attended Prince’s concerts to study his every move in order to come up with something better. Prince, being the competitive man that he is, let his ego get the best of him. On multiple occasions, he refused to associate himself with anything Michael Jackson-related, such as charity events and duets. The two popstar royalties never did get the chance to patch things up.
