Nas vs. Jay-Z
When musicians invite other musicians to do a collaboration, accepting their offer is the best way to show courtesy. It doesn’t take brains to know that not showing up is a blatant sign of disrespect. Naturally, Jay-Z felt insulted when Nas didn’t even have the manners to decline his offer to contribute a verse to Reasonable Doubt in 1996. Instead, he just chose to be a no-show. As usual, the two of them took a shot at one another through their songs. Jay-Z went first, and Nas followed. In 2005, the lengthy war finally came to an end when Jay-Z invited Nas as a special guest on his “I Declare War” tour, which ironically was a peacemaking event.
