It’s a legendary female singer versus another legendary female singer with Lady Gaga and Madonna. Lady Gaga has always been open about being inspired by fellow powerful women in the industry, and that includes Madonna. But, since the media started comparing Mother Monster to Madonna too much, the latter took this as a sign of competition even though Gaga never started one. Her hit track “Born This Way” garnered praise from many people, but it also received a lot of criticism. According to some, it sounded a lot like Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself.” The ‘80s singer let this get to her head and kept on making nasty remarks about Gaga and how much she influenced her.
