They don’t make movies like this anymore. The Shadow, starring an impeccably cast Alec Baldwin, is based on a character from pulp fiction radio serials in the 1930s. As such, the film feels like a blast of old-fashioned Hollywood pleasures and charms, with a shot of “we’re all in Tim Burton’s wake post-Batman” for good measure.
