If you dig Captain America: The First Avenger, you owe it to yourself to check out director Joe Johnston’s other retro Hollywood-feeling superhero flick. The Rocketeer‘s charms are numerous, from the aw-shucks earnestness of its lead performances, to the pleasingly practical effects. It’s a gentle superhero film, in the best way possible.
