Lincoln Wasn’t as Progressive as He Seemed in “Lincoln”

The 2012 biopic “Lincoln” focused a lot on U.S. President Abraham Lincoln’s struggles to get the 13^th Amendment, which abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, to pass. But the film didn’t show that Lincoln wasn’t entirely anti-slavery. In fact, he wrote: “There is a physical difference between the white and black races that will for ever forbid the two races from living together on terms of social and political equality.”
