What’s Real and What’s Fiction on the Popular Pawn Series “American Pickers”

They Overpaid for a Train Set

History Channel

Although the producers and the pickers have plenty of experience haggling, their dealings don’t always result in a profit. This was something they learned the hard way in season seven, when Frank Fritz paid $8,000 on a Lionel Train set that was seemingly in mint condition. Spoiler alert! It wasn’t! When Fritz attempted to sell it at an auction, he discovered that the train set had replaced parts. So, they only made $3,400. That’s a $4,600 profit loss.
