Made in Ben Affleck’s prime Gigli days, Surviving Christmas is a uniquely unpleasant affair. It tries to be the holiday equivalent of Meet The Parents, with awkward familial interactions and comedic setpieces. Instead, it’s a pointlessly ugly, mean-spirited film.
