He considered heading back to his city flat, but remembered the little creature in his bag. Before he could return home, he had to travel to the animal hospital. The vet’s office was still a half hour away in the city, and he had lost his automobile in the meanwhile. But surely it wouldn’t be that tough to hitch a ride in the modern world.
