8-Million-Year-Old Bacteria
Scientists have discovered a whole bunch of ancient bacteria frozen in ice, and one such chunk is believed to be approximately 8 million years old. For this type of bacteria to survive the harsh conditions, they form spores, which is a type of hibernation that makes them immune to the harsh weather conditions around them.
