Ice Patches Hold Clues to the Past
One of the Arctic’s biggest mysteries is the ice patches and more specifically, what is within them. Ice patches are formed when layers of snow from previous years doesn’t melt and instead adds to last year’s layer of ice. When animals die on this ice, they become part of the layers of the ice sheet, so there are many creatures in the old layers of ice waiting to be discovered by scientists in the future.
