There Is Lava Beneath the Ice in Antarctica
Antarctica may be a cold place, but beneath the ice on the surface, there are some spots that are hotter than most places on Earth’s surface. The ice of Mount Michael hides one of Earth’s eight lava lakes, which can reach temperatures of between 1,812 and 2,334 degrees Fahrenheit in its molten state.
