Some Icebergs Are Green Inside
Not only are there some red sheets of ice, there are also green icebergs in the snowy continent of Antarctica. For many years, scientists did not know why these icebergs had a green hue, but now they believe the reason to be iron-oxide dust in the ice that is later carried into the sea. These elements turn green upon contact with oxygen, similar to the process that turns copper pennies green.
