The group worked thoroughly, digging up layers of dirt to unearth what had been hidden. It had been a struggle for them to work carefully but quickly.
Understandably they wanted to rush through this part of the job, but could not risk it. A light hand had been required because they had realized that this burial ground had almost been there for 6 centuries, undisturbed. If they made one small accident, the whole project would fall through.
