The first things people think of when they hear the words ‘sumo wrestlers’ are massive Japanese men. However, a British sumo wrestler named Sharran Alexander stands at 6 feet tall and weighs almost half a ton. She is living proof that this sport is a lot more diverse than people think.
Alexander has held the record for the heaviest professional sportswoman in the world since 2013 when she represented Britain at the World Sumo Championships. Alexander also goes to show that athletes come in all shapes and sizes.
