And finally…yep, you read that correctly: The Shining was badly reviewed on its initial release. Kubrick’s masterpiece and the best Stephen King adaptation! Arguably the best film of the 80s, and a lot of people’s choice for best horror film of all time was badly reviewed. For those keeping score at home Psycho, Peeping Tom, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13^th, The Amityville Horror, The Thing, Island of Lost Souls, I Walked with A Zombie, and The  f***ing Shining were all badly reviewed on their original release. Without those films, you don’t have 9 of the greatest horror movies of all time. Reviews, especially for horror films, don’t mean everything.
