They Didn’t Believe Him
Peter’s fellow rangers didn’t even believe that Peter was telling the truth about the situation. Peter really needed help, but the story was so outlandish and impossible that it was difficult to justify sending anyone to help him.
Peter was forced to seek assistance by other means. He was certain that he’d seen the bear holding a little child. Still, nobody came to help. It was at that point that Peter made up his mind to take things into his own hands. The situation forced him to dial 911.
