The reason the railroad bridge was abandoned was because cars became everyone’s prefer mode of travel and travel by train became less popular. So, the city turned its back on these railroad bridges and without funding for proper maintenance, they fell into a state of disarray. And it would cost too much money to get them to function properly again.
