Whether or not he remembered him made little difference in the fact that he was homeless. He had to figure out a means to survive as a result. He begged and scrounged for food, but this did little to ease the pain in his gut.
He had to make another attempt. He came up with a strategy since he realized his ability to provide for himself was essential to survival.
