Breaking Point
We had minimal time for rehearsals at one of our tour venues. It was too much for the director two months into the rehearsal process when this woman kept making backhanded comments. Her speech was interrupted by the director, who screamed, “THE SHOW IS NOT ABOUT YOU!” He dumped the script on the ground, and the pages flew everywhere.
We hadn’t heard him rant or swear in rage before. The woman cried and bolted from the stage. “Can we get back to work, please?” he asked quietly. Afterward, during an intermission, I heard him telling her that he would tell everyone in the industry he knew not to employ or associate with her.
