Furious, Abby addressed her own mother, “Why are you here, Mom? And what would possess you to take my daughter and dog?”
Calmly, her mom replied, “Sorry, honey. It’s been so long since we saw each other. I didn’t think I should wake you up. I just wanted to have some time alone with my granddaughter.” Though irritated, Abby felt relief wash over her that her daughter was safe.
