Alex indicated his agreement with a firm nod, his eyes never leaving the item Brad was holding. It held every ounce of the child’s attention, and that confirmed that Brad was in charge now.
It was time for things to change. “You’re going to stop now, right?” he whispered to the kid. Alex nodded eagerly, sticking out his hungry hands.
He was desperate to have the object in Brad’s hand. But would that make a difference?
