A Horrible Smell
John opened the door as quietly as he could. He didn’t know what lay behind the door, but he knew something was wrong. The first thing he noticed when he fully stepped inside the house was the horrible smell. He gagged and covered his nose as he stepped further into the house. The house was in a state. The few items of furniture he had purchased before he was deployed were still there, but it was covered in random items and tons of trash. John didn’t want to believe it, but as he continued through the house, it was clear what was going on.
