Trespassers
The only explanation for the trashed state of John’s house was squatters. His house was clearly being lived in by trespassers who had somehow come to discover that it was not being lived in for years at a time, and were they more than happy to take advantage of an empty home. As he processed just what was happening here, he felt himself getting angrier and angrier. John was furious that the house he bought to provide him a safe haven had been taken over by people illegally. He wasn’t going to let them get away with this.
