The incident took place in the Chinese province of Zhejiang, off the coastline of Xinjiang. Fishermen initially reported spotting a large whale close to the shore.
It soon became clear that calamity was approaching as additional reports poured in. Despite their best efforts, the worst-case scenario ultimately occurred.
