Keeping The Animal Alive
There was more urgent work that needed to be completed while the workers frantically tried to transfer the enormous animal. To keep the creature wet, the majority of those participating had to form rows of humans.
The rescuers did this by repeatedly pouring water over the whale while filling buckets with water. The only way to keep it living until they could find out how to transport it was a gradual, torturous procedure.
