Barking’s Okay, Within Reason
Dave, his wife and their kids moved into a new house in a pretty quiet neighborhood in the summer. He was happy to have a bigger house with more room for his family to stretch their legs in. But after they moved in, they started to notice the dog next door and its frequent barking fits. These typically didn’t happen during the day, but they became a total nuisance at night. A little barking was okay – it was in their nature after all. But one of the first nights they moved into their house and let their heads hit their pillows, the symphony yaps, yips, and howls started. And there was nothing they could do to calm the dog down from their side of the neighborhood. From there, it was a domino effect. The kids would wake up. He and his wife would have to get up … and then no one slept.
