Weeks passed and his family started to suffer deeply. Without adequate sleep, Dave and his wife found it difficult to get their kids up for school and get through the workday themselves. They felt dreary and tired all day and then the barking started up again and there was no way to get a good night of sleep for anyone in the household. Even earplugs weren’t enough to drown out the constant yapping of the dog next door. There was no choice, he had to act. Dave had planned to keep the conversation civil – and it started that way. When he got to his neighbors’ house that evening, he simply questioned them about their dog and the couple seemed fine. But it quickly devolved into some pretty thick vitriol and ended with a “Dogs bark, what do you expect?” and then a door slammed in his face.
