He went ahead and told Joe that the assignment had been completed successfully so that they could talk about the next step. He didn’t anticipate Joe’s next move because it wasn’t in the original plan. He said startlingly, “How will that happen?” The purpose of framing Greg for poisoning was to divert the attention from him. Greg was more afraid about the possibility of Joe being poisoned than he was about being falsely accused. He reassured him that everything would be alright because the poison wouldn’t kill him if he got to the hospital and got an antidote before four hours had passed.
