Walter was now really starting to worry. He had known Ruth a long time and, therefore, knew that hiding inside her house was not going to help her cope at all.
She still had many years left to live. If she surrendered to her grief now, the potential of her future would go to waste.
Besides, everyone at the diner was missing her dearly.
