Mixing Things Up
“Went to a wedding where the bride and groom were from different cultures/religions and they somehow blended all the parts beautifully. He was born Jewish but was a Buddhist, so his parents read a prayer in Hebrew and his sister rang a bell while we had silent prayer time. She was a Korean Christian, her parents read a psalm in Korean, the Corinthians one. The officiant was b’jai and read a traditional prayer as well. The bride started out without a bouquet, but as each family member came up they each had a different flower they gave her so by the end she had this lovely arrangement, and they talked about how marriage isn’t just 2 people but all the families. The whole thing was beautifully done.”
