“A member of the wedding party (groom’s brother, I think) stepped aside on the altar to allow someone to pass. He backed into a lit candle which was just a few inches down from the center between his shoulder blades. Happily, it was noticed very quickly and he was extinguished before getting more than a 2-inch burn on his jacket, and a bit of brown on his shirt. Unfortunately, the entire groom’s party was wearing very light blue suits. When he turned around at some point in the ceremony, it looked like he had picked the tuxedo jacket up from a corpse that had taken a mortar round in the back, and everyone sitting anywhere near the front erupted in laughter, much to the puzzlement of the bride, groom, and minister. He didn’t get his deposit back on the tux, but on the good side, the bride and groom have been married for… 23? 24? years, and we stay in touch with them to this day.”
