Mom Gives Teen Highlights For Her Birthday, So Divorced Dad Chops It Off
Birthdays are perhaps the most special and celebrated event in any person’s life, no matter where he or she is in the world. The anticipation the builds from waiting for 364 days to arrive at “the one big day” is heavy and comforting at the same time.
After all, knowing that you’ve just passed one more year to enjoy what the world has in store for you is, indeed, something to celebrate about.
One of such individuals who look forward to birthdays more than ever is teenage Kelsey Frederick. For one, Kelsey’s parents are divorced, and this means that she gets to celebrate her special moment twice.
Her dad and mom, Schaffen and Christin, did not really have problems raising their daughter separately. Co-parenting had been a very easy and seamless experience for the parents. Every birthday, there had been no problem at all with coordinating on giving her two parties.
It was for their most precious girl, after all.
However, something happened when her next birthday came up — and for Kelsey and her parents, things have never been the same again.
One Darling Daughter, Two Celebrations
Kelsey was about to celebrate her 13th birthday and this was extra special because it was her first foray into officially being a teen. As always, her mom and dad had agreed to give her two awesome parties.
She couldn’t be more excited about this upcoming one because they both promised it would be amazing.
Sweet, Sweet Thirteen
As she was finally becoming a teenager, which meant a new set of privileges for the excited girl, Kelsey was expecting that her parties would be nothing short of stunning.
She was turning into a young lady who is on her way to being more mature, and she thought her celebrations should also be a reflection of this life transition.
That said, she thought calling her best friends in and having a sleepover would be a great idea. Right?
Best of the Night
Most teens are excited about this age transition because it entails having the freedom to more “adult” things (at least, gradually) and her mom Christin had no problem with the idea, at all.
In fact, she promised to shoulder the bill of having her daughter get highlights on her hair for the very first time.
Hair highlights were not really a new thing at Kelsey’s school and, in fact, many of the girls there already had. Pretty and bubbly Kelsey thought that since she’s turning 13, she should have some, too.
At Her Dad’s House
So off to the salon she went and got the highlights she wanted. After a few hours of getting all glammed out, she excitedly rode over to her dad’s place to show him her new look.
What he said the moment he laid eyes on her hair was nothing like she, or anybody, expected.
