Leonard sat back, the cushioned sofa embracing him as the rush of memories from his youth came flooding back. “I had a pendant just like that,” he murmured. “Lost it during a summer trip when I was 16. It was an heirloom.”
He traced the edges of the Polaroid, his fingertips grazing the image of the pendant. He never saw it again after that trip, and the pain of losing it was fresh once more.
