George was rushed to the hospital and one of the police officers, Marty, that had carried him also took it upon himself to inform the family. But he quickly realized that the old man had quite a difficult family situation that only got sadder the more he learned about it. Of course, George did not have parents left, but they had apparently kicked him out of the house when he was only 18 years old and then wanted nothing to do with him anymore.
