Bill Hickok
“Wild” Bill Hickok was one of the most famous frontiersmen of the Old West. He gained notoriety with his tales of adventure (some of which turned out to be fictitious).
Hickok was killed in 1876 while playing poker. He was shot by a disgruntled gambler. Hickok was holding two pairs — aces and eights — in his hand, which is now known as the Dead Man’s Hand.
