Underweight
One half of the team tried to find the mother of the little critters while the others fished the puppies from the drain. While some were crying, others were completely silent. Speaking about the incident, Fire Captain Brian Vaughan said that nearly all of them squirmed as they were lifted from the drain and placed on a fresh towel in a cardboard box.
The dark animals were clearly underweight. They crawled up to each other, desperate for some heat. But as they were going, the firefighters were growing weary.
