Quite the opposite: a freezing environment
The sewage tunnel was, as expected, very dark and frigid. There was no way any animal could have survived there, and the chilly climate of Colorado only made things worse. Quick action was desired by the fire crew regardless of the kind of animal that may have been trapped below. If the animals had been trapped for a long period, their chances of survival were slim. The group immediately began working on removing the roadside grate blocking access to the sewage.
