Time Is Running Out
These creatures were presumably newborns, which means they were probably quite little and vulnerable to the cold. Furthermore, they may need nutrition from their mother’s milk, which they would not have access to at that location. They would need these necessities immediately if they were newly born. They may not have heard anything at all if the lady had phoned any later. Animals’ desperate struggle for survival inspired them to get their task done more quickly.
